Hoyas Take Series Over Villanova With 6-1 Victory

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team took the series against the Villanova Wildcats on Friday afternoon with a 6-1 win. With the victory, the Hoyas improve to 18-8 on the season and 2-0 in BIG EAST play while Villanova slides to 7-17 on the season and 0-2 in conference action.

ON THE RECORD
"It is great to win a series on a Friday but today it really came down to Andrew Williams and Jordan Yoder. Williams gave us an unbelievable start today, I thought he mixed up his pitches really well and did a good job out there. Yoder came in and was able to clean some stuff up and got a big double play in the seventh inning without allowing any runs which was big for us. I thought momentum stayed on our side today and Kavi Caster and Marco Castillo played a big role in that. Caster had two big leadoff triples for us and then Castillo was able to bring him home both times which was great. Derek Smith had a big bases-clearing double for us early that helped us get the lead and we were able to hold onto it the rest of the way. We played good baseball today, had a couple big double plays and overall, it was a great day for the Hoyas. We are looking forward to coming back out here tomorrow with the noon start and hope to finish the weekend." – Head Coach Edwin Thompson
