Hoyas Fall to George Mason in Extra Innings

WASHINGTON - Georgetown softball fell to George Mason 2-1 on Wednesday, April 10 in Fairfax, Virginia. The Hoyas are now 10-23 on the season while George Mason improves to 12-26.

 

How it Happened

  • After a scoreless first inning, George Mason scored an unearned run in the second to take a 1-0 lead.

  • Neither team was able to score in the third, fourth and fifth innings.

  • In the fourth, Kayla Dunn struck out the side.

  • Brooke Rebhan hit a leadoff single in the sixth inning. Up next at bat, Claire Turner hit an infield single, allowing Rebhan to advance to third.

  • Emily Strittmatter tied the game with a sac-fly, bringing Rebhan home from third.

  • Neither team was able to score in the seventh inning, forcing extra innings.

  • In the eighth inning, the Patriots hit a home run, giving George Mason the 2-1 victory.

 

Hoya Highlights

  • Strittmatter recorded an RBI while Rebhan earned a run.

  • Turner, Strittmatter and Rebhan all recorded a hit.

  • From the circle, Avery Wissmar, Dunn and Julia Parker combined for four strikeouts in seven innings pitched while allowing only five hits and one earned run.

 

Up Next

Georgetown will return home to compete in a three-game series against Butler with the first game being on April 12.
