WASHINGTON - Georgetown softball's late rally comes up short, falling to Butler 6-4 in the first game of the three-game series on Friday, April 12 at Washington Nationals Youth Academy. The Hoyas are now 10-24 on the season and 1-11 in BIG EAST play while Butler is 18-21 and 7-9 in league action.

The Hoyas got on the board first in the first inning.

Dayanara Campos hit a ball deep to right field. Then, Claire Turner took advantage of an error by the Butler right fielder, advancing home from second to put Georgetown up 1-0.

Butler took a 3-1 lead in the second inning.

Kayla Dunn struck out two Bulldog batters in the third inning, giving her five strikeouts in the first three innings.

Butler added another three runs in the fourth inning, extending its lead to 6-1.

In the fifth inning, Georgetown began in the inning with back-to-back hits by Turner and Emily Strittmatter.

At the next at bat, Campos hit a three-run home run to center field, cutting the Butler lead to two.

After a scoreless sixth inning, Georgetown put runners on first and second with a chance to tie the game in the seventh, but was unable to capitalize, allowing Butler to take the game 6-4.
