WASHINGTON - Georgetown softball defeated Providence 6-2 in the second game of the three-game series on Saturday, April 27 in Providence, Rhode Island. The Hoyas are now 13-29 on the season and 4-16 in BIG EAST play while Providence is 19-21-1 and 9-11 in league action.
How it Happened

In the first inning, Georgetown managed to get bases loaded with only one out, but were halted by a Providence double play.

Georgetown again threatened in the second inning after singles from Camryn Wincher and Brooke Rebhan put runners on first and second, but was unable to advance them further.

Kayla Dunn threw back-to-back 1-2-3 innings to open the game.

Georgetown recorded the first run of the day in the third inning when Dayanara Campos hit a solo home run to center field.

Providence responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the third inning.

Neither team was able to tack on any runs in the fourth inning.

Rebhan opened the fifth inning with an infield single. Later in the inning, a hit from Emily Strittmatter put runners on second and third base.

At the next at bat, Campos hit a double to right center bringing Strittmatter and Rebhan home and allowing the Hoyas to retake the lead at 3-2.

In the sixth inning, two Providence errors and a walk gave the Hoyas bases loaded with two outs. Strittmatter was able to bring home all three base runners with a double to center field, extending Georgetown's lead to 6-2.

The Hoyas recorded a 5-4-3 double play in the seventh inning, helping them clinch the victory on the road 6-2.
Hoya Highlights

Campos went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, three RBIs and a run. Her home run was her 11th of the season.

Strittmatter went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, a double, a run and a walk. Her three RBIs in one game was a new career-high.

Rebhan recorded two hits and two runs.

Wincher and Claire Turner each tallied a run.

From the circle, Kayla Dunn earned the win after throwing seven innings and only allowing four hits and two earned runs. She also threw four strikeouts in the game.
