Hoyas Fall to Xavier in Extra Innings

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Georgetown University baseball team fell 6-5 in 10 innings to the Xavier Musketeers on Saturday afternoon at Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium in College Park, Maryland. With the loss, Georgetown drops to 30-18 on the season and 10-6 in BIG EAST play while Xavier improves to 28-22 on the season and 11-6 in conference action. Despite the loss, results around the league clinched a BIG EAST Championship berth for the Blue & Gray later in the afternoon.

ON THE RECORD
"Sometimes the toughest thing to do in sports is to finish, and unfortunately we didn't finish the game with one out in the ninth when we had the lead. We couldn't get it done. I thought Andrew Williams gave us an unbelievable start, but we weren't able to finish the job. We had some great moments, a couple home runs, but in the end it just wasn't our day. Neither team gave up free bases, but it came down to playing clean defensively and we had some miscues. We had a great crowd today, we hope they come back tomorrow and we finish the series on a positive note." – Head Coach Edwin Thompson
