Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Hoyas Pick Up First Win of the Season Over UC Riverside, 3-1

WASHINGTON –   Georgetown University's women's volleyball team (1-1) picked up its first win of the 2024 season on Saturday at McDonough Arena. The Hoyas took down the UC Riverside Highlanders (1-1) in three sets in the second match of the D.C. Challenge.

Mary Grace Goyena achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 1,000 career kills in the fourth set of the match. The senior becomes the 16th Hoya to accomplish the feat.

Head Coach AJ Bonetti

"I'm proud of the way the girls played today. Great effort after yesterday's match, we had some players step up that we know are capable of that every game. Shout out to MG for her 1,000 career kill. It's a milestone that not everyone gets the opportunity to achieve in their careers. I thought Karis had some great defensive plays to keep us running in transition. Very proud of our effort at the net. It was great to see that after the work we've put in those skill sets."

Senior - Mary Grace Goyena

"This was a great start to my senior season. I love this game so much and I'm so grateful to play here at Georgetown with my best friends. So excited for what's to come with this group!"
