Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Hoyas Fall at James Madison

WASHINGTON - The No. 14 Georgetown University men's soccer team fell 1-0 to the James Madison University Dukes in a nonconference matchup in Harrisonburg, Virginia at Sentara Park on Monday evening. With the loss, the Hoyas move to 2-2-2 on the season, while the Dukes improve to 1-0-3 for the year.

Head Coach Brian Wiese
  • "I thought tonight was one of our better performances so it was really frustrating to not the get the result. We hit the post three times in the first half, and we were running the game the way we wanted in the second but we have to put the ball in the net. I was pleased with how we handled going on the road against a good team and executing, we did everything we talked about except getting the result. Six games in, this team is really evolving. I like where we're at from a process standpoint, we're further along than where I anticipated we'd be so we need to just keep plugging away, get ready for LIU and hopefully gain some momentum going into the league."
How it Happened
  • The first half saw shots clang off the post for the Blue & Gray and both keepers being tested but neither team could break through.
  • A huge save from Georgetown goalkeeper Tenzing Manske kept it scoreless midway through.
  • At the break, the teams went into the locker room in a scoreless tie.
  • The Hoyas pushed looking for a goal in the second half, but the lone score would be from the Dukes.
  • JMU served in a ball off of a corner and it fell to Aidan Melville who sent it in to make it 1-0.
  • GU would have chances including a free kick in the final minute, but could not find the equalizer falling 1-0 at the final whistle.
Of Note
  • Georgetown outshot James Madison 12-11, and had five shots on goal to the Dukes' four.
  • The Hoyas were awarded four corners to JMU's eight.
  • Manske took the loss in the net with three saves in the game, while Sebastian Conlon had five.
