Georgetown Football Travels to Sacred Heart

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University football team remains on the road for week three as they head north to Fairfield, Connecticut to take on Sacred Heart University on Saturday, September 14. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 P.M. on Campus Field.

ABOUT THE RV/- HOYAS
  • The Hoyas advanced to 2-0 on the season after defeating Marist 31-10 at Tennely Stadium last Saturday. GU has now won five-straight contests against the Red Foxes.  
  • David Ealey III and Patrick Ryan received Patriot League Honorable Mentions for their performances in the win. 
  • Ryan picked up his second-straight weekly conference honor for kicking a 38-yard field goal going 4-4 on PATs. The senior also kicked six kickoffs for 349 yards and made five punts for 185 yards, including his longest for 50 yards.
  • Ealey paced the GU defense with 11 tackles (3 solo, 8 assists) and 1.5 sacks for a loss of 11 yards in the 31-10 win over Marist. The linebacker led the Hoyas' defense to hold Marist scoreless in the second half and held the Red Foxes to 63 rushing yards and 109 passing yards. 
  • Naieem Kearney leads the Blue & Gray with 165 rushing yards on 23 attempts and four touchdowns.
  • The Hoyas are receiving votes in the AFCA FCS Coaches poll as the only Patriot League team to remain undefeated.
ABOUT THE PIONEERS 
  • Sacred Heart is coming off of their first win of the season in a 10-3 decision over Saint Anselm College. 
  • The Pioneers will close out a three-game homestand against GU on Saturday
  • Xavier Leigh leads SHU in scoring with two touchdowns. The running back has rushed for 131 yards on 26 attempts. 
  • Quarterback John Michalski has completed 22 of 39 passes for 190 yards, including his longest pass of 27 yards. 
  • Maximus Mongelli paces the defense with 17 tackles followed by Myles Talley and Nick Verbitsky with 10 tackles a piece. 
  • Head Coach Mark Nofri is in his 13th season at the helm of the Pioneers. 
ABOUT THE MATCHUP
  • Georgetown and Sacred Heart are meeting for the third time in program history with the record tied at 1-1. 
  • Last season, the Hoyas earned a 27-10 victory on Cooper Field after battling through rain storms. 
  • In 2023, Kearney ran for 140 yards on 15 attempts and one touchdown while John Caramanico paced the defense with four tackles, including two for a loss of 12 yards, one sack and one quarterback hurry.
