WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's field hockey team fell 6-1 on the road at Villanova in the 2024 BIG EAST opener on Friday afternoon. The Hoyas fall to 1-5 overall and 0-1 in league play while the Wildcats improve to 4-3 on the year and 1-0 in conference action.
 
Sophie Towne scored the lone goal for the Hoyas.
 
In goal, Ella Fahey and Bailey Tietz combined for eight saves on the day. Fahey had five in the first half while Tietz added three in the second while allowing just one Villanova goal.
 
Colleen Finnan led Villanova with two goals and an assist while Ava Borowski added two goals as well. Maddi Sears had four saves in goal.
 
Georgetown returns to action on Sunday in the home opener against LIU. All home games for the Hoyas will be played at the University of Maryland's Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex in College Park, Maryland.
