WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's volleyball team (7-3) faced a challenging Friday at Fleming Gymnasium in Greensboro, North Carolina, dropping both matches. The Hoyas lost 3-1 to Marshall (25-19, 25-22, 19-25, 28-26) in the first contest and then fell to UNC Greensboro, 3-1 (25-20, 25-22, 25-27, 25-17), later in the day.
Georgetown showed resilience in the opening match against Marshall, bouncing back with a win in the third set after losing the first two. They came close to pushing the match to a decisive fifth set but narrowly lost the fourth in extra points.
In the second match, the Hoyas put up a strong fight, pushing the contest to a fourth set by winning the third. They ultimately fell in the fourth set.
Hoya Highlights against Marshall
- Dionna Mitchell dominated on both sides of the court, recording a team-high 17 kills and 17 digs.
- Kamryn Lee-Caracci and Giselle Williams added solid offensive support with 11 and 10 kills, respectively.
- Emily Wen orchestrated the offense with 39 assists and also led the team with 2 service aces.
- On defense, Vaughan Anoa'i was a standout, tallying six blocks to anchor the team's efforts at the net.
Against UNC Greensboro
- Lee-Caracci picked up a team-high 14 kills and four blocks in the second match of the day against the Spartans.
- Karis Park tacked on 20 digs.
- Juleigh Urbina tallied a season-high 24 assists to lead the Hoyas.
