WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's field hockey team evened its season record to 1-1 with a 2-1 victory on the road at Lock Haven on Friday afternoon.
Colleen Maloney and
Sydney Yodh both scored for the Hoyas while
Caroline Suko and
Elena Leahy added assists.
Lock Haven (0-3) jumped on the board early, scoring in the opening minute just 57 seconds into the game.
Undeterred, the Hoyas kept the pressure on their hosts and knotted the score at 1-1 in the 25th minute as Yodh found the back of the cage courtesy of an assist from Suko following back-and-forth passing after a penalty corner.
Tied up coming out the break, the Blue & Gray quickly took the lead as Maloney scored her first career goal just 33 seconds into the half with an assist from Leahy.
Ella Fahey (1-1) earned the win in goal behind a three-save performance. She blanked the Bald Eagles for the final 59:03 of the game while the Hoya defense fended off the final seven LHU shots of the game.
Georgetown returns to action on Sunday at Saint Francis (Pa.).
