WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team fell 73-55 to the No. 7 UConn Huskies on Saturday afternoon in a BIG EAST Conference matchup at the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, D.C. With the loss, the Hoyas drop to 8-8 on the season and 1-4 in league play, while the Huskies improve to 15-2 on the year and 6-0 in the BIG EAST.
Head Coach Darnell Haney
- "I was extremely proud of our effort today. We knew they would key in on Kelsey and try to stop her, but I was impressed with Khadee's offensive and defensive efforts and also Ariel's defensive work. Kudos to UConn, they're a machine, but I think we had a great game. We have to take tonight's effort and intensity and bring it to the rest of BIG EAST play. Tonight was a good test, and it was a good showing for our group in front of a great crowd. We'll take what we learned and we'll be ready."
How it Happened

- Late in the half and with the score knotted at 31, UConn staged a late 10-2 resulting in the teams going into the break with the Huskies leading 38-33.
- The third quarter was physical, and UConn managed to move ahead by 11 before a jumper from graduate student Kelsey Ransom halted the run.
- Despite a 3-pointer from junior Victoria Rivera, UConn would slowly pull away as the Huskies led 57-43 after the third period.
