Head Coach Darnell HaneyÂ
- "I was proud of our fight, we fought hard today. But we need to make sure we continue to lock in on the details. When you are playing in games like that at the end against really good teams, they capitalize on your mistakes. We have to make sure we focus on the details, and we finish plays. A couple of times we didn't do that, and good teams will make you pay. That's what we saw today."
How it Happened
- Looking down low, the Pirates led early until a layup from graduate student Kelsey Ransom and a triple by junior Victoria Rivera gave GU the advantage which they would not relinquish in the quarter.
- A 3-pointer by freshman Jaeda Wilson in the corner in the final two minutes made it 13-10 after one.
- The Hoyas opened the second quarter with an 11-0 run sparked by a Rivera jumper and capped off with her steal and layup as GU led 24-10 midway through the period.
- Seton Hall ended the momentum with a 6-0 run of its own, but the damage had been done and the Hoyas held a comfortable 30-22 lead going into the break.
- Midway through the third quarter, the Hoyas led 38-29 before a 14-0 Pirate run put the home team on top by five.
- Georgetown recovered with an 8-2 run to close the wild quarter leading 46-45.
- Back-to-back 3-pointers from freshman Khadee Hession and graduate student Siobhan Ryan were what was needed midway through the fourth as the lead swung back to Georgetown.
- It would be a battle through the final minutes of regulation, and Seton Hall closed it out with a trio to triples to lead 66-63 with three seconds on the clock.
- Ransom would pass the ball to a waiting Rivera who shot from her patented 35-foot spot and she sank it at the buzzer to send the game into overtime.
- The threes continued for both squads in overtime and it was Rivera again who had the ice in her veins. knocking down a triple with 1:15 to play.
