Hoyas Fall 1-0 in Battle with No. 7 Liberty

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's field hockey team dropped a hard-fought 1-0 decision to visiting No. 7 Liberty in BIG EAST action on Friday afternoon at Kehoe Field. With the loss, the Hoyas fall to 3-9 overall and 0-4 in league play while the Flames improve to 10-0 and 4-0 in conference action.
 
Ella Fahey was a brick wall for the Blue & Gray in goal, collecting 12 saves on the day.
 
Another strong performance from Georgetown's defense also highlighted the day, facing down 16 Liberty penalty corners in the game and holding the Flames scoreless until the 46:41 mark. Liberty averaged nearly three goals per game heading into the showdown.
 
Riley Fitzgerald and Adelae Chierici were both credited with shots for Georgetown.
 
Deadlocked at 0-0 for the first three quarters, Liberty finally converted on its 12th penalty corner of the day to take the 1-0 lead 1:41 into the fourth quarter. Kyleigh Faust scored the eventual game-winner with assists from Lou Combrink and Maite Altamirano.
