WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's field hockey team fell 4-3 in double overtime to visiting Rider on Sunday afternoon at Kehoe Field. With the loss, the Hoyas fall to 3-10 overall while the Broncs even their record to 6-6.
Katherine Malloy,
Elena Perez Alejandro and
Sydney Yodh each scored for the Hoyas while
Adelae Chierici,
Riley Fitzgerald and
Lily Jamison all had assists.
Alex Duff played the entire game in goal and collected six saves on the afternoon.
The Hoyas overcame a 2-0 halftime deficit before scoring twice in the third quarter from Malloy and Perez Alejandro to even things at 2-2. Rider retook the lead early in the fourth, but Yodh's goal with 4:14 remaining in regulation forced the game into overtime.
Georgetown dominated possession in the first overtime, outshot its guests 3-0 in the frame and earned four penalty corners but couldn't convert. Rider would score 2:56 into the second extra period after intercepting a ball and scoring in transition.
Semra Said had two goals for Rider including the OT game-winner. Ang Borisrow and Ryleigh Damminger both scored as well while Emma Bonshak had an assist.
In goal, Jade Regnart was credited with 17 saves in the win for the Broncs.
