WASHINGTON – The USA Track & Field Foundation named former Georgetown Hoya
Abel Teffra its Dirk Rohloff 800m/1500m Grant recipient on Wednesday. The grant will provide financial support to the 2025 NCAA indoor mile champion as he transitions from collegiate to professional middle-distance running.
Teffra is currently pursuing a master's degree in project management at Georgetown while training professionally under Georgetown Head Men's Cross Country Coach,
Brandon Bonsey. He signed with Hoka in late July after capping off his collegiate career by winning the NCAA Division I Indoor National Championship in the mile with a meet record time of 3:53.60. He also recorded a personal best of 3:38.65 in the 1500m during the outdoor season.
The Dirk Rohloff Grant is awarded to promising middle-distance athletes who demonstrate the potential to compete on the international stage. It is named in memory of Dirk Rohloff, a passionate supporter of the 800m and 1500m events.
