Hoyas Return to Winning Ways with 2-0 Shutout at Towson

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's field hockey team earned its first shutout since 2022 with a 2-0 victory on the road at Towson on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Hoyas improve to 3-8 on the year while the Tigers fall to 5-6.
 
Ellie Johnson and Elizabeth Rossotti both had goals for the Blue & Gray while Colleen Maloney was credited with an assist.
 
In goal, Ella Fahey posted a blank sheet with a pair of saves between the pipes.
 
After a scoreless opening frame, Georgetown opened the scoring with both goals in a span of 3:20. Rossotti put the first tally on the scoreboard at the 25:21 mark courtesy of Maloney's assist for the eventual game winner. Johnson added another goal with just 79 seconds remaining in the opening half, firing home a rebound off a save from her own shot to make it 2-0.
 
The Georgetown defense was stout all day, holding their hosts scoreless on 16 total shots. Towson also had 13 penalty corner opportunities but couldn't convert on any of them.
 
Tessa Scheenstra had three saves in the loss for the Tigers.
