Head Coach Brian Wiese
- "I can confirm that today was much better than last week. When you play a road game against a really motivated team, which we did last week in Providence, they were probably better than us in a lot of aspects of the game. Tonight, we made a couple of adjustments with how we were building our shape and how we were pressing, and I thought that put us a lot more on the front foot in general. Mitch scored a couple great goals, and we could have maybe scored a couple more good ones. So overall, for the performance, the setting and the stakes, the guys showed up and performed really well tonight."
How it Happened
- The Hoyas struck early as a corner kick from Zach Zengue was sent in and hit off of the head of sophomore Mitchell Baker to make it 1-0 in the fourth minute.
- From that point on the Hoya defense battled to keep it scoreless throughout the half.
- Baker and sophomore Aidan Godinho both had looks at the goal that were stopped by keeper Ryan Carney as the Hoyas went into the break up 1-0.
- Georgetown added another in the 70th minute as Zengue found junior Mateo Ponce Ocampo streaking down the left side. He sent a low cross in, which landed in the path of Baker for his second goal of the match.
- Baker neared the hat trick with 10 minutes to go, but Carney managed the stop as GU did not let up.
- At the final whistle, the Blue & Gray had the 2-0 victory.
