"We've just got to finish, we've got to finish. We have a group of people that we keep trying to get to connect and gel. They're all coming from different walks of life, and they need to learn to connect and finish a job. We needed to think about how we were approaching the week after the Maryland game, and now we will do the same looking ahead to Tuesday."

How it Happened
- George Mason struck first, but GU quickly took the lead at the charity stripe.
- A 9-2 run capped off by a transition layup from graduate student Chetanna Nweke put the Hoyas up six, but Mason cut the game to four on a final-minute bucket.
- The Hoya defense stepped it up and allowed GMU just one field goal through the first nine minutes of the second quarter.
- During that time, the Blue & Gray built the lead to as much as 12 fueled by a pair of buckets from junior Khia Miller.
- Four points from the Patriots in the final minute made it 22-14 at the half.
- Mason found some offense in the third stanza putting together a 9-0 run to cut the lead to four.
- However, graduate student Laila Jewett answered with a triple of her own and the Blue & Gray ended the quarter with a 7-0 spurt to make it 36-24.
- George Mason would not give up, however, as a 15-2 run pulled the Patriots within one with 4:54 remaining.
- The Hoyas went back up by five, but the Patriots were feeling it and tied the game at 48 with 12 seconds to go to force it into overtime.
- Early in the extra period, the squads matched buckets. However, a triple by Mason gave them a lead they would never relinquish as GU eventually fell 61-54.
Of Note
- Jewett led the way as one of three Hoyas in double figures with 13 points and four assists.
- Junior Cristen Carter managed her first double-double in a Hoya uniform with 11 points as well as a squad-best 12 boards.
- Rounding out the top scorers was sophomore Summer Davis who had a double-double as well with 10 points and as many rebounds in the contest.
- The Blue & Gray shot 38.8% (23-60) from the field, and Georgetown allowed just 35.6% shooting (26-73) by the Patriots.
- GU outrebounded Mason 52-35, and Georgetown forced eight GMU turnovers on three steals.
