Head Coach Darnell Haney On His 100th Career Victory

"It's just a blessing to be able to do this, it's a blessing to be able to help these young people. I just told them that in the locker room. It's a testament to my staff, it's a testament to the people that worked for me before, it's a testament to these players and all of the players that have played for me in the past. I'm just so ecstatic about that, and I'm excited for another hundred."

How it Happened
  • Junior Khia Miller opened the contest with a 5-0 run of her own before the Pios could get on the board.
  • Sacred Heart would battle through the first five minutes pulling within two at the 4:23 mark before the Blue & Gray closed out the quarter with an 11-0 run capped off by a triple from sophomore Khadee Hession at the buzzer to make it 22-9.
  • The Pioneers scored the first bucket of the second stanza, but any momentum was short lived as a balanced Hoya attack ballooned the lead to as much as 24.
  • The first half ended with a layup from sophomore Destiny Agubata to make the score 44-20 in favor of the Blue & Gray.
  • Four quick points from Miller began the second half, but Sacred Heart battled to get back into the contest staging an 8-2 run.
  • The Hoyas managed five points to end the quarter with the 57-31 advantage.
  • Sacred Heart would never find the way back and the Hoyas, including the duo of sisters Summer and Indya Davis, continued to build the lead.
  • At the final buzzer, the Hoyas had the 77-44 victory.
Of Note
  • Summer Davis led the way as one of three Hoyas in double figures with 12 points including a 2-2 performance from beyond the arc as well as three assists.
  • Miller and graduate student Laila Jewett both managed 11 points in the contest.
  • Junior Cristen Carter led GU on the glass with nine rebounds to go along with as many points for the game.
  • The Blue & Gray shot 50.0% (29-58) from the field, and Georgetown allowed just 30.6% shooting (15-49) by the Pios.
  • GU outrebounded SHU 36-31, and Georgetown forced 27 Sacred Heart turnovers on 13 steals.
