WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team defeated the Sacred Heart University Pioneers 77-44 on Tuesday evening at McDonough Arena. With the win, the Hoyas improve to an even 2-2 overall, while the Pioneers drop to 1-3 on the year. The victory was a milestone for Head Coach

How it Happened
- Junior Khia Miller opened the contest with a 5-0 run of her own before the Pios could get on the board.
- Sacred Heart would battle through the first five minutes pulling within two at the 4:23 mark before the Blue & Gray closed out the quarter with an 11-0 run capped off by a triple from sophomore Khadee Hession at the buzzer to make it 22-9.
- The Pioneers scored the first bucket of the second stanza, but any momentum was short lived as a balanced Hoya attack ballooned the lead to as much as 24.
- The first half ended with a layup from sophomore Destiny Agubata to make the score 44-20 in favor of the Blue & Gray.
- Four quick points from Miller began the second half, but Sacred Heart battled to get back into the contest staging an 8-2 run.
- The Hoyas managed five points to end the quarter with the 57-31 advantage.
- Sacred Heart would never find the way back and the Hoyas, including the duo of sisters Summer and Indya Davis, continued to build the lead.
- At the final buzzer, the Hoyas had the 77-44 victory.
Of Note
- Summer Davis led the way as one of three Hoyas in double figures with 12 points including a 2-2 performance from beyond the arc as well as three assists.
- Miller and graduate student Laila Jewett both managed 11 points in the contest.
- Junior Cristen Carter led GU on the glass with nine rebounds to go along with as many points for the game.
- The Blue & Gray shot 50.0% (29-58) from the field, and Georgetown allowed just 30.6% shooting (15-49) by the Pios.
- GU outrebounded SHU 36-31, and Georgetown forced 27 Sacred Heart turnovers on 13 steals.
- Amelia Wood scored 14 points as the lone Pioneer in double figures.
