HOW IT HAPPENED
- Miami got off to a hot start, sinking a pair of buckets before a Julius Halaifonua bucket. However, a 12-1 spurt for the Hurricanes sets the tone early as Miami took the 16-3 lead.
- A Caleb Williams 3-pointer sparked a 9-2 mini run for the Blue & Gray, bolstered by a trio of treys, to make it a two-possession game as Georgetown pulled within six (18-12).
- The momentum had seemingly shifted until Miami collected themselves and reeled off 10 unanswered to push the lead back to 16. Lewis' bucket with 4:39 on the clock ended the Hurricane run. Miami's Reneau rattled a 3-pointer into the bucket as the buzzer sounded to send both squads into the break with Georgetown trailing 41-20.
- Starting the second half, Langston Love was the first to score in the frame, but Miami had an answer on the other end. The Hoyas strung together an 8-2 run as they tried to claw their way out of the hole, cutting the deficit to 15 (45-30).
- Miami pushed the lead to as many as 24 (63-39), but as the Hoyas trailed 70-48 (5:38), a C. Williams dunk sparked a frenzied GU spurt where the Hoyas outscored their opponents 16-4 over 3:35 to cut the deficit to 10, fueled by 10 alone from C. Williams. It was as close as Georgetown would get as Miami sealed the 78-65 victory.
