WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University coed and women's sailing teams concluded a successful Fall 2025 campaign with strong performances across the board, securing the No. 1 conference ranking for both squads heading into the winter break.

Women's Team Success
The women's team delivered a stellar fall performance. After a strong showing at the Atlantic Coast Championship—finishing seventh and missing the top five by just two points, the Hoyas traveled to New York for the fall conference championship. In a tight, 15-team battle, the Hoyas traded leads with Cornell over two days of racing. Ultimately, Georgetown pulled away to win the title by an eight-point margin. Senior
Kelly Bates and junior
Anna Brzezinski took second place in A Division, while sophomores
Emily Doble and
Elinor Smith captured the victory in B Division.

Coed Team Dominance
Despite a few early-season stumbles, the coed team rebounded with dominant performances. At the Atlantic Coast Tournament hosted by St. Mary's, the team crushed the competition, securing a 30-point victory over Tufts. Seniors
Enzo Menditto and
Margot Gordon, alongside junior
Peter Barnard and sophomore
Teddy Stoldt, sailed to fourth in A Division. In B Division, the duo of freshman
Peter Herlihy and sophomore
Scarlett Harris put on a clinic, winning their division by 32 points with only one race finish outside the top four.
Â
Carrying that momentum to the War Memorial Regatta (fall conference championship) at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, the team finished second overall, trailing only St. Mary's and finishing ahead of Navy and Hobart. Herlihy and Harris continued their hot streak, winning B Division, while the A Division squad combined for a solid fifth place finish.

National Championships
The season concluded with two National Championship events. At Singlehanded Nationals hosted by Old Dominion, and in light wind conditions, freshman
Owen Kohut sailed an impressive event. Kohut won the final race to secure fifth place overall, ranking as the top freshman in the country. Â Barnard followed closely, finishing eighth.
Â
At Match Racing Nationals in St. Petersburg, Florida the team raced in J/70s with the group of skipper
Enzo Menditto and crew Bates, Barnard and Herlihy representing the Hoyas. Despite an opening loss to Charleston, the team rallied with wins over Tulane, Navy and Roger Williams. Unfortunately, uncooperative winds cut the event short before a full round-robin could be completed. The Hoyas tied for third but finished fifth overall after a complicated tiebreaker with Tulane, Brown and Boston College.
Â
With the fall season concluded, the Hoyas now look toward the spring. Practice resumes in February, with the competition schedule kicking off later that month.
