Julius Halaifonua and KJ Lewis Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University men's basketball's Julius Halaifonua and KJ Lewis were named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, as announced by the league office in New York on Monday. The award comes after a 1-0 week for Georgetown that saw the Hoyas defeat Coppin State 97-67 at McDonough Arena on Monday, December 22 before a small break for the holiday. The honors mark the Blue & Gray's third and fourth recognitions from the league this season as Lewis was previously named to the Honor Roll on November 10 and 17.
 
JULIUS HALAIFONUA (SOPHOMORE / CENTER / 7-0 / 259 / AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND) - BIG EAST HONOR ROLL
  • In a 1-0 week for the Hoyas, Julius Halaifonua put up 20 points on 77.8% (7-9) shooting, as well as a perfect 6-for-6 performance from the charity stripe to lead a quintet of Hoyas in double-figure scoring against Coppin State.
  • He added a game-best eight rebounds to his stat line in just 26+ minutes of action.
  • This is Halaifonua's first nod to the honor roll of his career.
 
KJ LEWIS (JUNIOR / GUARD / 6-4 / 210 / EL PASO, TEXAS) - BIG EAST HONOR ROLL
  • In the lone game for the Hoyas this week, a 97-67 win against Coppin State, KJ Lewis managed 15 points on a 4-for-7 performance from the field, including a pair of 3-pointers, to go along with 5-for-6 from the free throw line.
  • He dished out a game-best eight assists in the contest while grabbing seven rebounds.
  • Additionally, he managed a game-best three steals, tying Isaiah Abraham for the squad best.
  • This is Lewis' third accolade from the league this season, previously being named to the Honor Roll on November 10 and 17.

Georgetown will return to action on Wednesday, December 31 when the squad hosts the St. John's Red Storm at Capital One Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET on FS1 with Alex Cohen calling the play-by-play and Phil Martelli providing analysis.
