WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - A buzzer beater from sophomore
Summer Davis propelled the Georgetown University women's basketball's team past the Wake Forest University Demon Deacons 58-56 on Sunday afternoon in nonconference action at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum. With the win, the Hoyas improve to 6-3 overall, while the Demon Deacons drop to 9-2 on the year with their second-straight loss.
Head Coach Darnell Haney
"Huge effort by our team today. I'm proud of the way
Destiny Agubata and
Brianna Scott came back from some difficult games that they've had recently. I know Destiny hasn't played the minutes she wants, but she made the most of her minutes today and was a key player for us. At the end of the day, what got us the win was out Georgetown defense. We had multiple stops in a row and that made the difference. We've got to be a little more poised late in the game but I'm so proud of our effort. It's tough to win on the road, and tough to win in the ACC so I'm proud of our group for that. We'll celebrate this today, and then we'll move on and get ready for Saturday."
