Hoyas Fall at No. 24/25 Creighton

OMAHA, NEB. - The Georgetown University women's basketball team fell 70-48 to the No. 24/25 Creighton University Bluejays on Saturday afternoon in a BIG EAST Conference matchup at D.J. Sokol Arena in Omaha, Nebraska. With the loss, the Hoyas drop to 11-14 on the season and 4-10 in league play, while the Bluejays improve to 21-4 on the year and 13-1 in the BIG EAST.

How it Happened
  • Both squads struggled early as Creighton held the small lead, until graduate student Kelsey Ransom went on a 6-0 solo run to put GU on top.
  • In the final minute of the quarter, the Hoya defense forced turnovers and turned that into points from senior Ariel Jenkins and junior Victoria Rivera on the other end to make it 13-11 in favor of the Blue & Gray.
  • Ransom opened the second quarter with a triple, but Creighton answered with a 6-0 run of its own.
  • Rivera sank a layup at 6:50, however, the Bluejays got hot putting together a 14-1 run to take a 12-point lead.
  • Freshman Khadee Hession stopped the bleeding in the final minute of the half with back-to-back triples to make it 31-25 at the break.
  • Creighton opened the second half with a 9-0 run before Hession answered with her third triple of the contest.
  • The scoring would be few and far between in the third quarter as Creighton outscored GU 26-9 and the Hoyas trailed 57-34 at the end of the stanza.
  • The Blue & Gray would not find its way back in the fourth, eventually falling 70-48.
