WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University softball team went 1-1 in its first two matchups of the season at the Liberty Softball Invitational in Lynchburg, Virginia. The Hoyas defeated Drexel, 15-9, in the first game, but fell to Liberty, 6-0, in the second. With a split of the doubleheader, Georgetown moves to 7-3 on the season.

GAME ONE | Hoyas 15, Drexel 9
HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
- Julia Parker pitched 3.1 innings, allowing four runs on six hits, striking out four and walking one.
- Sage Hager closed in relief, going 2.1 innings, allowing no runs on two hits, striking out one and walking one.
- Emily Strittmatter went 2-for-2 with a home run, a walk, three RBIs and three runs scored.
- Claire Turner was 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored.
- Dayanara Campos went 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk, two RBIs and a run scored.
- Abby Kozo went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored.
- Sammy Fenton went 1-for-3 with a triple, a walk, an RBI and two runs scored.
- Gabby Park went 1-for-4 with a double, a run scored and three RBIs.
- Hollie Pardini went 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored.
- Dani Koo went 1-for-5 with a walk, a stolen base and two runs scored.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Drexel struck first with an RBI double in the top of the first inning. The Hoyas quickly responded with three runs in the bottom of the frame. Fenton's triple tied the game at 1-1, and Kozo's RBI double along with Campos' RBI single gave Georgetown a 3-1 lead.
- After a scoreless second inning from Parker, the Hoyas extended their lead in the bottom of the second. With two on and one out, Strittmatter hit a towering three-run home run to center, pushing the lead to 6-1.
- The Hoyas weren't done yet. Campos led off the third with a solo home run to increase the advantage to 7-1.
- The Dragons fought back in the top of the fourth, scoring five runs to narrow the Georgetown lead to 7-6. However, the Hoyas responded in the bottom half, plating seven runs on four hits. Pardini and Kozo had RBI singles, followed by an RBI double from Park and a two-run homer from Turner, which extended the lead to 14-6.
- Drexel added three more runs, but Hager came in and shut the door, getting the final seven outs to secure the 15-9 win for Georgetown.
GAME TWO | Hoyas 0, Liberty 6
HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
- Fenton went 2-for-3.
- Kozo went 1-for-2.
- Kayla Dunn pitched two innings, giving up three runs on three hits, walking three and striking out none.
- Hager pitched four innings, allowing three earned runs on three hits, walking one and striking out none.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless top of the first, Liberty got on the board with a fielder's choice that plated a run, giving the Flames an early 1-0 lead.
- The Flames extended their lead in the bottom of the second, plating two more runs for a 3-0 advantage.
- Georgetown's offense struggled, and Liberty added to its lead in the bottom of the third with a home run and an RBI double to extend the lead to 5-0.
- The Blue & Gray offense was kept at bay, while Liberty added an insurance run in the fifth for a 6-0 lead. That score would hold up, as Liberty shut out the Hoyas, 6-0, on its home turf.
OF NOTE
- Parker earned the win for Georgetown in game one, improving her record to 2-0 on the season.
- Four different Hoyas had multiple hits in game one: Turner, Kozo, Strittmatter, and Campos.
- Strittmatter belted her fourth home run of the season and now has four home runs and seven RBIs.
- Turner has tallied a hit in eight of Georgetown's 10 games this season.
