WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University softball team came up short on the last day of the CSU Kickoff in Charleston, South Carolina to Siena 7-1. With the loss, the Hoyas finished its first weekend with a 3-2 record.

HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
- Julia Parker had a strong outing in relief for GU, tallying three innings pitched while allowing just one run.
- Brooke Rehban was 1-2 on the day and had the lone RBI for the Hoyas, driving in Sammy Fenton.
- Claire Turner was 1-3 on the day with a double.
- Abby Kozo had a base hit in the contest.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first inning from Kayla Dunn, the Hoyas got on the board in the second with an RBI single by Rehban to score Fenton, giving the Hoyas an early 1-0 lead.
- Siena would answer in the bottom half of the inning, with Ella Milante delivering a two-run double to regain the lead for Siena 2-1.
- Walks by Carlie Venables and Lauren Melton loaded the bases for Ashley Giampolo, who hit a two-run single to extend the Siena lead to 4-1 after two.
- That score would remain until the fifth, where Chloe Cummings delivered an RBI single to left field, stretching the Siena lead to 5-1.
- Siena would add some insurance in the sixth, with an RBI double from Emma Petersen followed by a pinch-hit RBI single from Karissa Rice to extend the lead to 7-1 after six.
- GU would go down 1-2-3 in the seventh, giving Siena a 7-1 win.
