Hoyas Return to Winning Ways with 13-8 Victory at Brown

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's lacrosse team returned to its winning ways with a 13-8 victory over Brown at Stevenson-Pincince Field in Providence, Rhode Island on Saturday. The No. 10 Hoyas improve to 3-2 overall while the Bears fall to 1-3 on the year.

Hoya Highlights How it Happened
  • A slow scoreless start quickly turned to the Hoyas favor as Georgetown scored three-straight goals in a three minute span to lead 3-0 at the 5:25 mark courtesy of two Cesare goals and one from Carroll. Brown found the back of the net at the 4:45 mark to make it 3-1 but wouldn't score again until the third quarter – a span of nearly 23 minutes.
  • The Hoyas added another trio of goals in the second quarter. Crogan scored his second goal of the season to start the outburst before Erb scored off the ensuing faceoff just nine seconds later. Carroll had the third score, making it 6-1 going into halftime.
  • Coming out of the break, another two Georgetown goals gave the Blue & Gray an 8-1 advantage thanks to goals from Miller and Acton. Brown cut its scoreless deficit at the 11:51 mark with a man-up goal, but had to wait another seven minutes for their first 6v6 goal since the first quarter. A late Bears goal made it a 9-4 game going into the final frame.
  • With 15 minutes to play, Carroll completed his hat trick on the opening possession before Brown responded in full. Following a Bayman goal, the Bears posted back-to-back scores to pull within four down 11-7 with 6:36 to play. Down the stretch, the Hoyas took advantage of multiple Brown penalties as Carroll netted consecutive man-up goals in the final four minutes to put the game away.
Brown Notes
  • Ben Scandone led the Bears with a goal and four assists while Brady O'Kane had two goals.
  • Dash Sachs won 13-of-22 faceoffs and had a game-high five ground balls.
  • In goal, Connor Foley (1-3) had 14 saves in the loss.
Georgetown Notes
