Hoya Highlights
How It Happened
- Villanova opened the scoring in the first inning. An error, two walks, and a hit plated two runs for the Wildcats, giving them an early 2-0 lead.
- The Wildcats continued to build on that lead throughout the game. After a scoreless second inning from both teams, Villanova scored three runs in the third, powered by a home run and back-to-back doubles, extending the lead to 5-0.
- Villanova added two more solo home runs in the fourth, growing the lead to 7-0.
- After a scoreless fifth inning, the Wildcats put up five runs on four hits in the sixth inning, which included two more home runs.
- Georgetown's offense tacked on three runs in the sixth on three hits. A Sarlo double, followed by RBI hits from Strittmatter and Rebhan, cut the lead to 12-3, but it was not enough as the Hoyas fell, 12-3, in six innings.
Of Note
- Sarlo tallied her first career collegiate hit with a double in the bottom of the sixth inning.
- Claire Turner and Brooke Rebhan have both recorded a hit in both games of the series so far.
