Twelve Hits Power Georgetown Past UMBC 12-2 in Seven Innings

ON THE RECORD
"I am just really proud of our group today. Proud of how we came out against a really good team. I thought Derek Yoo gave us an unbelievable start to get us going and scoring those runs like we did early in the first few innings was big for us. I thought in those back-to-back solo home runs from Jeremy Sheffield and Owen Carapellotti were great. It was awesome to see Jeremy get his first career home run and Owen doing what he's done his whole career was great to see. I thought overall, we played good defense. Four double plays, we made the routine plays, and we pitched great. You know, we didn't walk many guys, and Jake Anderson was great for us as well as Axel Johnson. Nadell Booker was solid coming in to finish it up. I am really proud of our group and it's always hard to win and we value that. Now we are looking forward to next week and BIG EAST play starting." - Head Coach Edwin Thompson

Yoo was able to grab his third strikeout of the day to end the top of the frame leaving a runner stranded for the Retrievers. GU would then load the bases and scratch across two more runs taking the 7-0 lead into the fourth.
