HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first half started with both teams trading buckets before DePaul hit its third triple of the day to take a 9-5 lead. An 8-1 swing in favor of the Hoyas, fueled by a pair of triples from Peavy and Epps, pushed Georgetown ahead 13-10. However, a game of runs, DePaul reeled off seven straight before a bucket from Epps was followed by a putback dunk from Drew Fielder to knot up the score at 17 apiece.
- The Blue Demons would pull ahead once again, 24-19, but the Blue & Gray tallied seven-consecutive points behind a pair of Peavy buckets sandwiching a Curtis Williams Jr. layup to take the 26-24 advantage.
- As the first frame winded down, the Hoyas fell behind again but a Drew McKenna tip-in sent the squads into the locker room with the home team leading 38-34.
- Coming out of the break, DePaul extended the lead to nine (43-34) before Curtis Williams Jr. pulled up for the jumper to stop the run and sparked a 10-3 spurt to pull the visitors within two (46-44).
- The squads continued to trade buckets but a hot shooting DePaul team started to pull away, leading by as many as 10 (70-60, 5:05) but it was all Epps to get the Hoyas out of the hole. Epps knocked down a 3-pointer in the corner and drew the foul to complete the elusive four-point play and make it a one-possession game (76-73) with 1:50 remaining.
- The Hoyas couldn't find the late-game heroics, falling 83-77 at the final whistle.
OF NOTE
- Peavy recorded 20+ points for the 14th time this season marking a new career-best for the graduate student.
