WASHINGTON — The Georgetown University softball team dropped both games in today's doubleheader vs DePaul at the Washington Nationals Youth Academy, falling 7-1 in the opener and 4-2 in the second. With the losses, the Hoyas slip to 10-32 overall and 1-22 in BIG EAST play, while the Blue Demons improve to 16-31 and 3-20 in conference action.

Hoya Highlights
- Sage Hager entered in relief and was solid. The graduate student went 4.2 innings, allowing two runs on nine hits, walking and striking out one.
- Claire Turner was 2-for-3 with a stolen base.
- Emily Strittmatter was 2-for-3 with a home run.
- Hollie Pardini was hit by a pitch and stole a base. Pardini also caught a runner attempting to steal second base.
- Nina Sarlo reached base once.
How it Happened
- DePaul got on the board courtesy of a long ball from the first batter, giving DePaul an immediate 1-0 lead. The Blue Demons would score another run off of an RBI single to extend the lead to 2-0.
- Despite a lead off single and stolen base from Turner, GU could not bring in the runner in scoring position, leaving the score at 2-0.
- After a scoreless second inning from both sides, DePaul extending its lead in the third. The Blue Demons would hit a pair of home runs to plate three runs and grow the lead to 5-0.
- Both sides would be held scoreless in the fourth inning in order.
- In the fifth inning, the Blue Demon offense would continue to tack on base hits. DePaul plated two runs on three hits to grow the lead to 7-0.
- The Hoyas would show a little life in the bottom of the sixth. With no one on and one out, Strittmatter belted her ninth home run of the season to straight away center to get Georgetown on the board at 7-1.
- The Hoyas were unable to tack on anymore runs as they dropped the opening game of the series, 7-1.

Hoya Highlights
- Kayla Dunn was solid on the mound. The graduate student went 6.0 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits, walking two and striking out three.
- Turner went 1-for-4 with a triple and an RBI.
- Sarlo went 1-for-2 with a single, an RBI, a run scored and a sacrifice bunt.
- Brooke Rebhan was 2-for-4.
- Pardini and Strittmatter each tallied a hit.
- Dayanara Campos walked three times and scored a run.
- Sammy Fenton reached base safely once with a walk.
- Dani Koo stole a base.
How it Happened
- DePaul got off to another hot start in the top of the first. The leadoff batter began the game with a single before the two hitter blasted a two-run home run to center field to give the Blue Demons an early 2-0 lead.
- After a scoreless bottom of the first and top of the second, the Hoyas threatened in the bottom of the second. The Blue & Gray would load the bases with no one out off a single, an error and a walk, but back-to-back fielder's choices and a great diving play kept the Hoyas scoreless after two frames.
- In the third, DePaul would extend the lead off an RBI single to grow the lead to 3-0.
- The very next inning, DePaul would extend the lead again, this time by the home run variety, extending the lead to 4-0.
- The bats would wake up for the Hoyas in the fourth. A Campos walk would be driven in with two outs on a Sarlo single up the middle. The very next batter, Turner delivered an RBI triple into the left center field gap to cut the deficit to 4-2 at the end of four frames.
- Both pitchers would settle in nicely, putting up scoreless fifth and sixth innings heading into the final frame.
- In the seventh, Dunn got the Blue Demons out in order including her third strikeout of the game.
- In the bottom of the seventh, Rebhan would single up the middle on the first pitch of the inning, putting the tying run at the plate with no one out. Georgetown would then be retired in order, ending game two with a final score of 4-2.
Of Note
- In game one, Pardini caught her 11th runner stealing on the season, a mark that leads the BIG EAST.
- In game one, Strittmatter hit her ninth home run of the season. The sophomore leads the team in home runs and is tied for 11th in the BIG EAST.
- In game one, Turner stole the 40th base of her collegiate career. The junior is currently ranked fourth all-time in stolen bases.
