WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's and women's cross country teams opened their season with a strong showing at the Trials of Miles Opening XC Night presented by New Balance and Tuscarora High School XC. The men's team picked up a first-place finish with 24 points, followed by George Washington with 45 and Johns Hopkins scoring 51. The women placed fourth with 99.

MEN – 6k

• Caleb Lakeman, Charlie North and Alazar Teffra placed first to third, respectively with Lakeman running an 18:14.6, North finishing with a time of 18:16.6 and Teffra recording a time of 18:19.9.
• Quinn Parrish (18.36) and David Flaig (18:41.5) both  finished within the top 12. 
• Alex Hillyard took 16th with a time of 18:51.1.
• GU Point Scorers: 1. Caleb Lakeman, 2. Charlie North, 3. Alazar Teffra, 6. Quinn Parrish, 12. David Flaig, 16. Alex Hillyard.

WOMEN – 5k

• The Hoyas were led by Charlotte Bell who finished third with a time of 17:49.9.
• Alli Crytser (18:41.8) and Emma Zawatski (18:55.5) rounded out the Hoyas who finished in the top 30.
• The Hoyas also had Hannah Andrejczyk finish in 31st with a time of 18:55.9 and Tori Ketzler took 38th running a 19:06.2. 
• GU Point Scorers: 3. Charlotte Bell, 22. Alli Crytser, 30. Emma Zawatski, 31. Hannah Andrejczyk, 38. Tori Ketzler, 42. Amalie Beil.

UP NEXT

The women's squad will return for their second event of the season on September 13 when they travel to Annapolis, Maryland for the Cantello Invitational hosted by Navy. The men's squad will return on October 3 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania for the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh.
