Field Hockey Falls 3-1 to App State

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's field hockey team dropped a neutral site showdown 3-1 to Appalachian State on Sunday afternoon in Towson, Maryland. With the loss, the Hoyas fall to 1-1 while the Mountaineers improve to 2-0 on the season.

Izzy Lee scored the lone goal for the Hoyas while Sydney Yodh was credited with the assist.

In goal, Georgetown once again split keepers with Ella Fahey and Alex Duff splitting halves to combine for seven saves. Duff (1-1) had six in the second half to lead the Hoyas.

Following a scoreless opening half, App State got on the board first nearly 11 minutes into the second half. The Mountaineers would add a pair of goals in the fourth quarter to lead 3-0 before Lee's goal nixed the shutout with 2:33 left to play.

Lise Boekaar had a goal and two assists to pace App State.
