WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's field hockey team fell 3-2 to Sacred Heart in double overtime in Towson, Maryland on Friday. The Hoyas fall to 1-2 while the Pioneers move to 1-2 as well.
Caroline Suko and
Izzy Lee both tallied goals for the Blue & Gray while
Lily Saal added an assist.
In goal,
Ella Fahey and
Alex Duff combined for six saves on the day.
Sacred Heart got on the board first, scoring 2:10 into the second half. The Hoyas responded five minutes later as Suko found the back of the cage with an assist from Saal.
Georgetown took the lead just 94 seconds into the fourth quarter as Lee converted a penalty stroke to put the Blue & Gray ahead 2-1. The Pioneers would force overtime after converting a penalty corner with just five ticks remaining in regulation.
Sacred Heart posted the game winner at the 75:26 mark in the second overtime.
Blaire Sparks had two goals for the Pioneers while Celia Benson scored the game-winner.
