ON THE RECORD
"Proud of our group today. I'm really proud of our men. We played hard, obviously, we're fighting for our lives, losing four in a row. We knew we're going to come in here and play a team that was so determined. I thought we played hard, though. We played connected, but we played together." - Head Coach Ed Cooley

  • KJ Lewis tallied 14 points on the night off of five made field goals and an efficient 3-for-4 performance from beyond the arc.
  • Caleb Williams followed with 12 points on a perfect shooting performance. The sophomore went 4-for-4 from the field, 2-for-2 from three and 2-for-2 from the charity stripe.
  • Vince Iwuchukwu rounded out the Hoyas in double figures with 11 points going 5-for-10 from the field and 1-for-1 from the line.

  • Owen Freeman and Graves controlled the glass with four rebounds each.
  • Graves paced the Bluejay offense with a squad-best five assists.
  • Creighton shot 52.5% (32-61) from the field and 39.4% (13-33) from beyond the arc.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The home team got on the board first, but both teams started hot from the field with the Hoyas taking a 13-12 lead at the first media timeout as a trio of Hoyas put up points, including an Iwuchukwu dunk as well as a traditional three-point play, a C. Williams triple and a bucket from Mack.
  • Out of the huddle, the Blue & Gray extended the lead behind a Halaifonua bucket and free throw, but Creighton found the answer from deep on the other end. The game would be knotted two more times (20-20, 22-22) until GU reeled off 10 unanswered. A Mack driving layup was followed up by triples from C. Williams and Lewis before a Halaifonua bucket capped the run.
  • A Bluejay bucket ended the run, and Georgetown was able to push the lead back to 10, but Creighton closed the frame on 12 unanswered to take a 38-36 lead into the locker room.
  • Out of the break, CU's Swartz was red hot, knocking down treys as the first three scores for the team. But GU's offense wasn't backing down, staying within two possessions early in the second stanza as Iwuchukwu knocked down a bucket and Langston Love tallied five straight.
  • As the squads traded buckets, the Bluejays maintained a two-possession gap, leading 56-51, before the Blue & Gray staged an 8-2 run sparked by a Kayvaun Mulready driving layup and including three points from Jayden Fort and a triple from Lewis to give the Hoyas the 59-58 lead, their first of the half (9:40).
  • The game was tied at 59 apiece and again at 61-61, before the duo of J. Williams and C. Williams combined for four in a row to take the 65-61 lead. The three-ball kept the Bluejays alive as the squad knotted it at 67 again. The Hoyas tallied seven unanswered to take the 74-67 lead. The Hoyas clung to the lead, but another Swartz triple with 19 ticks in regulation tied the game at 76. Love went up for the buzzer-beating shot to close regulation, but it was called back as the teams went into overtime.
  • Creighton opened the extra frame scoring, but a Lewis corner 3-pointer tied the game right back up, and a Halaifonua bucket gave the Blue & Gray a two-point advantage. However, the Bluejays answered with a pair of buckets, including one that narrowly beat the shot clock to swing the lead back. A Lewis jumper tied it up at 83, but the home team had the answer again on the other end to take the 85-83 lead with 25.8 seconds left in the extra period. The Bluejays drained the first of a pair of free throws to seal the 86-83 overtime victory.
