WASHINGTON – Georgetown University volleyball team picked up its second straight conference win on Saturday night, defeating Providence 3-1 (25-17, 25-22, 22-25, 25-14) at McDonough Arena. With the victory, the Hoyas move to 10-5 overall and 2-2 in the BIG EAST, while the Friars drop to 8-7 and 0-4 in the conference.

"Great team win tonight! Sometimes it takes everyone, and tonight was one of those nights. Proud of Olivia for stepping up tonight. We earned our off day this weekend!" -Head Coach AJ Bonetti

The Hoyas and Friars traded points early in the first set before Georgetown exploded for a 10-0 run to build a 19-10 lead and force a Providence timeout. The Hoyas cruised to a 25-17 set victory, led by Katherine McGregor and Dionna Mitchell, who each recorded five kills on an .833 hitting percentage to help Georgetown hit .542 as a team.

McGregor continued to provide offense for the Hoyas, recording three kills during a 6-1 run as the Blue & Gray erased a 3-0 deficit to take a 6-4 lead. Georgetown kept the Friars at bay until a late 4-1 Providence push tied the set at 22, but the Hoyas answered with three straight points to close out the 25-22 win behind 15 kills in the frame.

A service ace from Juleigh Urbina and a pair of kills from Berkeley Ploder gave Georgetown a 15-13 cushion heading into the media timeout in the third set. Providence rallied late, however, taking the frame 25-22 to stay alive.
