WASHINGTON – The Georgetown softball team started the weekend in Wilmington, NC with games versus Lafayette and UNCW. The Hoyas won 3-2 in game one versus Lafayette before losing their second game 1-0 to UNCW.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME ONE
- Lafayette scored first with one run in the second inning.
- Lafayette scored again in the fourth inning, putting them up 2-0.
- In the fifth inning the Hoyas responded with a double by Emily Strittmatter followed by a single by Devyn Johnson that sent Strittmatter home. The Hoyas cut the Lafayette lead to one run.
- In the sixth innings, the Hoyas brought home two more runs with singles by Ally Pearce, Abby Kozo, and Emily Strittmatter. At the end of the inning the Hoyas were up 3-2.
- The Hoya defense kept Lafayette scoreless in the seventh inning, leading to a Hoya victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME TWO
- Neither team scored until the sixth inning, when UNCW went up 1-0
- UNCW held off the Hoyas in the top of the seventh inning, leading to UNCW's 1-0 victory.

The Hoyas will be back tomorrow in Wilmington, North Carolina to take on Iona and Lafayette. The Blue & Gray will cap off the weekend with a contest against UNCW on Sunday, February 22.
