Georgetown Travels to Seton Hall for Saturday Night Matchup

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team hits the road for a Saturday night matchup in Newark against the Seton Hall University Pirates. Tipoff at Prudential Center is scheduled for 6 p.m.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • In its last outing, Georgetown (13-13, 5-10 BE) couldn't complete the comeback, falling 93-89 at Capital One Arena on Wednesday. Caleb Williams led a quintet in double figures with 16 points on an efficient 5-for-8 performance from the floor including a trio of triples. KJ Lewis followed up with 15 points while Julius Halaifonua and Vince Iwuchukwu each added 12 and Malik Mack rounded out the double-figure scoring with 10. Kayvaun Mulready led a balanced effort on the glass, grabbing four rebounds while Mack's seven helpers paced the offense. The Hoyas shot 56.7% for the game but allowed 55.9% shooting from the Bulldogs.
  • A trio of Hoyas are scoring in double figures led by Lewis who is tallying 15.5 ppg, followed by Mack (14.0 ppg) and Iwuchukwu (11.7 ppg). Lewis ranks eighth in the BE in scoring.
  • Iwuchukwu leads the Hoyas on the glass grabbing 5.8 rpg, followed by C. Williams (5.3 rpg) and Lewis (5.2 rpg).
  • Mack paces the offense with 4.3 apg, which is sixth in the league, followed by Lewis who averages 2.7 apg.
  • Lewis ranks second in the BIG EAST and leads the Hoyas in strips with 2.2 spg.
  • Before the start of the 2025-26 season, Lewis was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Second Team and Mack was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Third Team. The Hoyas were also selected sixth in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll in Head Coach Ed Cooley's third season at the helm.
 
ABOUT THE PIRATES
  • Seton Hall enters the matchup with an 18-9 record for the 2025-26 season, including an even 8-8 mark in BIG EAST play.
  • In its last outing, Seton Hall fell to DePaul 69-57 at home on Wednesday. Adam "Budd" Clark led a trio of Pirates in double figures with 19 points, followed by AJ Staton-McCray (13) and Tajuan Simpkins (12). Stephon Payne led SHU on the glass, pulling down six boards while Clark dished out five assists to pace the offense.
  • Clark's 12.7 ppg leads three Pirates in double-figure scoring while Staton-McCray chips in 12.0 ppg and Simpkins adds 10.8 ppg.
  • Payne leads Seton Hall on the boards with 7.2 rpg followed by Najai Hines (5.2 rpg).
  • Clark's 4.8 apg paces the SHU offense.
  • Butler is led by Head Coach Shaheen Holloway in his fourth season with the Pirates.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
  • Georgetown and Seton Hall will meet for the 124th time in program history, with the Hoyas holding the narrow 63-60 edge in the series.
  • The last meeting between the two teams was last month when the Hoyas couldn't contain a second-half surge from the Pirates, falling 76-67 at Capital One Arena. A quintet of Hoyas scored in double figures led by Mack's 14 points as Isaiah Abraham chipped in 13 and the trio of Lewis, C. Williams and Iwuchukwu each added 10 apiece. Iwuchukwu led on the glass with seven boards while Lewis dished out a squad-best three helpers.
  • The last time the two teams faced each other at Prudential Center was on December 22, 2024, a 61-60 GU win. Thomas Sorber, now with the reigning NBA Champions Oklahoma City Thunder, led a trio of Hoyas in double figures with 19 points and a squad-best eight rebounds. Micah Peavy, now with the New Orleans Pelicans, chipped in 10 points and tallied a team-best five assists.
  • Cooley is 14-15 all-time against Seton Hall and 5-4 against Holloway.
