WASHINGTON – The Georgetown softball team went 1-1 in the home opener against Drexel at Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy on Saturday afternoon. The Hoyas defeated the Dragons 8-0 before falling 9-1 in game two.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME ONE
- Georgetown got the scoring started after Brooke Rebhan hit a home run on the second pitch of the first inning. The Hoyas ended the first inning up 2-0 after Gabby Park batted in a run.
- In the third inning, Park hit a double to earn a run for the Hoyas and widen their lead 3-0.
- The Hoyas scored five runs in the fifth to earn a 8-0 shutout victory against Drexel.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME TWO
- Drexel got the scoring started in the top of the first with two runs.
- The Hoyas got on the board in the bottom of the first after a home run from Claire Turner. At the end of the first GU trailed 2-1.
- The Dragons extended their lead 5-1 after scoring three runs in the top of the fourth.
- In the top of the fifth the Dragons scored four runs to go up 9-1. The Dragons earned the victory after holding the Hoyas scoreless in the bottom of the fifth.

The Hoyas will take on Drexel in the final game of three-game series at Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Acadmey on Sunday, March 1 at noon.
