VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Georgetown University women's basketball team fell 67-55 to the Villanova University Wildcats on Saturday afternoon in a BIG EAST Conference matchup at Finneran Pavilion in Pennsylvania. With the loss, the Hoyas drop to 12-12 overall and 5-10 in BIG EAST play, while the Wildcats improve to 19-5 and 12-3 in league action.
How it Happened
- An early 17-2 Villanova run put the Wildcats ahead early, but the Hoyas would answer back near the end of the quarter.
- A free throw from sophomore Destiny Agubata sparked a 6-0 run to finish off the first as GU trailed 19-12.
- Agubata managed to cut the advantage to four, with a 5-0 run on her own as the Hoyas chipped away at the lead in the second quarter.
- The teams would trade buckets for the remainder of the stanza, and the Blue & Gray went into the break down 30-24.
- Villanova built a 12-point lead to begin the second half, but a triple from graduate student Laila Jewett sparked a massive 13-2 run to pull the Hoyas within one, 38-37.
- Five late Wildcat points would make it 45-39 after three quarters of action.
- The play of Jewett cut it to three with 8:39 remaining in the contest, however, Villanova shifted into another gear and went on a 17-2 run to put the game away.
- At the final horn, the Hoyas fell 67-55.

- Junior Khia Miller led the way with 12 points and four blocks in the contest.
- Jewett managed 10 points, and junior Brianna Byars had a career-high 12 rebounds to go along with six points for the afternoon.
- The Blue & Gray shot 34.5% (19-55) from the field, and allowed 37.9% (25-66) shooting by Villanova.
- The Hoyas were outrebounded by the Wildcats, 40-39, and GU forced 13 VU turnovers on six steals.
- Jasmine Bascoe led the way for Villanova with 19 points as one of four Wildcats in double figures.
