Hoyas Secure Series Victory with 7-2 Win Over FDU

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team powered past the FDU Knights 7-2 on Saturday morning at Capital One Park. With the victory in Tysons, Virginia, the Hoyas improve to 7-4 on the season while the Knights fall to 1-5.

ON THE RECORD
"It's always great playing at home in front of an amazing crowd, I'm just so grateful for our fans to come out and support us at an 11am game. We found a way to battle, and we came out with a Series victory, and Trajan Lee gave us an unbelievable start. Griffin O'Connell came in when we needed to get out of the jam in that one inning, and then Ethan Rucker gave us the last two innings. But I thought our defense really stepped up today. We had two outfield assists and two great base running plays by Jackson Thomas. I'm really proud of Dom Cafferillo with getting his not only his first career hit, but also his first home run, all in one play to get us going there. Dylan Larkins, with a really good day offensively. So, we know it's gonna be a good game tomorrow. We got to be ready to play, but excited for the opportunity to have a chance to play here again tomorrow." - Head Coach Edwin Thompson

  • The Hoya offense took over in the bottom of the fifth. After Thomas and Solomon singled and executed a double steal, Ilitch singled to center field, driving in both runners to put Georgetown up 3-1. The Knights cut the lead to 3-2 in the sixth when J. Delamota doubled to center field to score D. Urreta.
  • Georgetown added one more in the seventh, capitalizing on a Thomas lead-off double and a sacrifice fly from Solomon. The floodgates opened in the eighth inning as the Hoyas plated three runs, highlighted by a towering three-run home run from Larkins to center field.
