WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team defeated the Penn State Nittany Lions 9-2 on Tuesday night at Capital One Park. With the win in Tysons, Virginia, the Hoyas improve to 11-6 on the season while the Nittany Lions fall to 4-10.
ON THE RECORD
"Just a good team win. Really proud of our guys to take care of our first midweek win against a really good team. And I was really proud of how
Charlie Hendrix came out, gave us the win. But I thought, everyone that came out in the game today, our bullpen was just outstanding. We played good defense. We had a big hit by
Ashtin Gilio. We scored when we needed to—just really proud of the group and looking forward to coming back tomorrow to try to win a series." - Head Coach
Edwin Thompson

HOW IT HAPPENED

- The Hoya offense added two more in the fourth, capitalizing on three Penn State errors and a wild pitch to make it 6-1. The Nittany Lions cut the lead to 6-2 in the sixth behind a solo home run from Molinaro, but the Hoya bullpen remained steady.
- Georgetown added insurance in the seventh as Dylan Larkins drove in Jeremy Sheffield with a sacrifice fly, followed by a bases-loaded walk from Gilio to push the lead to 8-2. Jack Volo and Ethan Rucker combined for two perfect innings of relief to secure the win.
