WASHINGTON – Behind a sharp start from
Kai Leckszas and timely hitting from
AJ Solomon and
Ashton Seymore, the Georgetown University baseball team (13-6) edged out the William & Mary Tribe (5-11) 6-5 on Friday afternoon at Capital One Park.
ON THE RECORD
"What a great ball game. Friday night baseball, a great crowd, and a really good team that came in here today. William & Mary gave us all we could handle, but I thought our guys really competed at the level I wanted them to after some big wins in the middle of the week. I'm really proud of our group.
Kai Leckszas gave us the start we needed, and once again, our bullpen has just been really consistent with
Andrew Jergins,
Jack Volo, and then
Luke Jackman coming in during a very difficult situation in the ninth to get his fifth save.
AJ Solomon and
Connor Peek played really well and made some good defensive plays, and
Ashton Seymore gave us the big hit earlier and a sacrifice fly to give us three RBIs. It was a great team win. I love seeing our guys compete like we did today, and I'm looking forward to a chance to win a series tomorrow." - Head Coach
Edwin Thompson
