Hoyas Fall at Towson

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University softball team lost another close one, 4-3, to the Towson University Tigers in a midweek matchup on Tuesday afternoon in Towson, Maryland. With the loss, the Hoyas drop to 9-11 on the season, while the Tigers improve to 18-11 overall.
 
Hoya Highlights
  • Gabby Park led the way going 1-for-3 with a trio of RBIs to her credit.
  • Clair Turner and Emily Strittmatter both managed 2-for-4 performances at the plate.
  • The Blue & Gray pitched by committee with Emily Collins managing three strikeouts in two innings pitched.
How it Happened
  • Towson opened the scoring in the bottom of the first as the Tigers put runners on, and managed to get two across the plate.
  • The Hoyas would answer in the top of the second when Park smashed a double to right field allowing all three runners to come home to put GU on top 3-2.
  • Towson tied it up in the next inning with a single to second, and TU managed the winning run on a homer in the bottom of the fifth making the final 4-3.
Of Note
  • Georgetown is no stranger to close games with Tuesday marking GU's third one-run decision in a row.
Up Next
  • The Hoyas will return to BIG EAST Conference action this weekend with a three-game series at Villanova.
  • Friday's game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Villanova Softball Complex.
  • The Blue & Gray will then face the 'Cats on Saturday and Sunday with first pitch scheduled for noon on both days.
