Georgetown Drops Final Game at Creighton

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University softball team fell 8-4 to the Creighton University Bluejays on Saturday in the final contest of a BIG EAST Conference series at the Creighton Softball Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska. With the loss, the Hoyas drop to 14-16 overall and 7-8 in league play, while the Bluejays improve to 23-21 for the season and 11-4 in the league.

Hoya Highlights
  • Dayanara Campos led the way for the second game in a row with a 2-for-4 performance with three RBIs and one run scored on her home run.
  • Taylor Francis was a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI to her credit.
  • Marina Egbert took the loss in the circle, but Allison Lui entered in relief and managed a pair of strikeouts for the Blue & Gray.
How it Happened
  • Creighton took an early 3-0 lead off a double in the bottom of the third, and a two-run homer the following inning.
  • With two runners on and two outs, Campos stepped up to the plate and sent a long ball over the left field fence to knot the game at three.
  • Creighton regained the lead in the bottom of the fifth on a wild pitch, followed by a grand slam that extended the lead to 8-3.
  • Francis hit one into the gap with two runners on, allowing Turner to score in the top of the seventh. However, the rally fell short as GU lost 8-4.
