WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team fell to the Xavier University Musketeers 5-1 in 12 innings on Thursday afternoon at Capital One Park. With the loss in Tysons, Virginia, the Hoyas slip to 16-14 on the season and 0-1 in conference play while the Musketeers improve to 11-20 and 2-2 in league action.
ON THE RECORD
"Quite the BIG EAST opener. You saw two teams competing at a high level. Their pitchers were doing a very good job. But I thought today, Spencer Seid was really special. Taking a perfect game to the ninth inning is hard to do in college baseball, and 10 strikeouts, no walks, truly was special. Unfortunately we didn't support him enough there. But you know, we had some really big moments, but just needed to find a way to get the big hit when it mattered, and we weren't able to today. Had opportunities, but that's a good team. We have to come back out tomorrow and try to even the series." - Head Coach Edwin Thompson
