WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University softball team scored early and held on to pick up the 2-1 BIG EAST Conference victory over the visiting Seton Hall University Pirates on Thursday afternoon at the Mount Vernon Softball Complex in Washington, D.C. With the win, the Hoyas improve to 11-13 overall and 4-6 in league play, while the Pirates fall to 13-18 on the season and 3-10 in the BIG EAST.

HOYA HIGHLIGHTS

  • Catherine Larson took the win in the circle, pitching all seven innings for the complete game and tallying five strikeouts on the afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Georgetown got on the board in the bottom of the first as a single to center field from Francis allowed Rebhan to cross the plate.
  • The Blue & Gray added another in the second inning when Johnson smashed a ball over the left field wall to put the Hoyas ahead 2-0.
  • The Pirates threatened on multiple occasions and managed to cut the lead in half in the top of the sixth.
  • With two runners still on base, the Hoya defense got the final out and Seton Hall never scored again to make the final 2-1.
