Georgetown Falls at Providence

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University softball team (16-23, 9-12 BIG EAST) lost a tough one in the bottom of the seventh as the squad fell to the first place Providence College Friars (28-16, 17-4 BIG EAST) 5-4 on Wednesday afternoon in the final game of a BIG EAST series in Rhode Island. The series was rescheduled from earlier this season due to weather in the region.
 
Hoya Highlights
  • Gabby Park led the way going 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs.
  • Dani Koo went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.
  • Claire Turner was 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Abby Kozo tallied a hit, a run, and an RBI.
  • Catherine Larson pitched all seven innings with four strikeouts on the afternoon.
How it Happened
  • Providence scored a run in the bottom of the second on a Friar triple to take the early lead.
  • The Hoyas battled back in the top of the fifth as Kozo started it off with a single up the left side which allowed Koo to come home.
  • The Hoyas loaded the bases, and Providence walked in a run to give GU the lead.
  • On the next at bat, Park hit a single up the middle allowing both Kozo and Turner to run home giving the Blue & Gray the 4-1 advantage.
  • Providence mounted a comeback in the bottom of the seventh as the squad managed four runs to end the game, 5-4.

  • The Hoyas will come home to Washington, D.C. this weekend to face the UConn Huskies in the final series of the season.
