Hoyas Fall at Maryland

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Georgetown University softball team lost 5-3 to the University of Maryland Terrapins at the Maryland Softball Complex on Wednesday afternoon in a nonconference matchup. With the loss, the Hoyas drop to 13-14 overall, while the Terps improve to 14-23.

Hoya Highlights
  • Dayanara Campos led the way going 1-for-2 with three RBIs and a run scored off of her homer.
  • Brooke Rebhan managed a 2-for-4 performance with a run scored, while Gabby Park was 1-for-4 and also crossed the plate.
How it Happened
  • Maryland struck first with a home run from Gracie Wilson in the bottom of the second to take the 1-0 lead.
  • With runners on first and second, Campos stepped up and crushed a ball over the left field fence to put the Blue & Gray ahead 3-1 in the top of the fifth.
  • The Terps answered back in the bottom of the sixth as a single up the middle brought one run across the plate, and a shot right to the pitcher tied the contest up at three.
  • An error in the bottom of the seventh put a runner on with one out before a walk-off homer resulted in the 5-3 decision.
Of Note
  • Campos' homer tied Noelle Holiday and Samantha Peters for the Georgetown program lead with 29 career home runs each.
